Not only the mentioned social, educational and career challenges a patient meets their are also additional challenges for some patients in different nation states within the European Union.
In some nation states recognition takes more time then in others. In the Netherlands for example it usually takes between 6 and 10 years for a patient sufferings from narcolepsy symptoms gets the right diagnose. Medication is available to the patients in the Netherlands. But this proves to be a challenge in the UK and almost impossible in Poland.
Creating awareness and social acceptance would help to improve the narcoleptics quality of life on the social and professional field. Advocating for the same patient rights on availability, recognition, diagnoses and treatment are of great importance to improve on the physical quality of life.
